Add .info to the Spammer’s List

What another nonsense TLD: .info.

Hopefully by blacklisting .biz and .info I can keep Akismet happy.

While we’re on the topic: anyone actually own and/or use a .info TLD for a legit purpose?

I have one for my personal site, and many more for content sites and have had great success with them.

Country based TLD’s can be a better indication, but in the end, it’s the content that will show you. I have had something like 30K spamm messages blocked in wordpress thus far and haven’t really noticed any patterns of the TLD’s

Looks like they’re just targeting me then. ;)

      Hey Ryan,

I’ve read through some of your posts (I found you through searching ‘top commentator’), and you’re doing some good work here. My blog is fairly new, and I’m trying to decide whether to install Top Commentator. You seem to be an advocate, but I don’t see any people listed in your top commentator section. Could you give me any advice?

      Emily

HI Emily, it works real well if you update on a consistent basis. I don’t, so thus no comments for this month! ;)

      Hey Ryan,

Forgive the ignorance, but what is ‘TLD’?

      It stands for top-level domain.

That’s because of its very cheap price.
Now the cheapest TLD is .CN, so add it too.

I have used a few in the past. I would not say banning them all would be a good thing, but forcing manual moderation definetly.

You can also add .cn domains to your list. Becase now they are selling just for $0.50 on cnobin.com
