Sorry.

Sorry.
I like to try and find inspiration to help fuel my focus on whatever project I’m working on, and while most of my inspiration comes from listening to 311, I also find inspiration in other (unusual) sources.
One such source is Chinese fortune cookie sayings. Now I know these motivational fortunes don’t come from some special place in China, and in fact I’m sure it’s quite the opposite. I do, however, like to live in a fantasy world at times, so let’s just assume some old wise man came up with these sayings, OK?
Here are three Chinese fortune cookie sayings that motivate me when I read them, and I hope they do the same for you.
It’s not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes a difference.
This is my favorite quote, simply because I feel it applies to everyone, regardless of what your goals are. Being prepared to complete whatever goals you set for yourself will go a long way to help you actually obtain your goals.
This quote has been made popular by Mark Cuban, and he credits the quote to Bob Knight, though I’m sure Mr. Knight isn’t the true source of the quote.
Instead of worrying and agonizing, move ahead constructively.
I love this one, too, because there’s no sense in dwelling on something that’s happened that you can’t control anymore. Figure out how to fix it in the future and do your best to accomplish whatever goal(s) you set for yourself.
Your talents will bring you the highest status and prestige.
We’ve all got talents, but they’re no good unless you apply them. I like this one, but I think the point about actually applying yourself rings true here. If you apply the things you’re best at you’re going to succeed.
I hope these Chinese fortune cookie sayings motivate you as much as they do me.
Do you have any quotes that really motivate you? If so, I’d love to hear them.
Welcome to http://www.ryanjparker.net, home of the real Ryan J. Parker.
There are plenty of people out there that claim to be me, but let’s face it: they’re not me!
Take this guy for example. He’s got the same name as me, but he’s not me! He might have more fame and fortune, but he’s still not me.
This is my personal blog where I’ll write about everything that interests me from web (software) development, technology, internet marketing, funny things, and probably anything that’s not politically correct.
I hope you enjoy the ride. I sure will.
