My Websites’ Traffic: February 2007

Now that March is here I’m going to start tracking my websites’ monthly traffic here on my blog.

For now I’ll keep from disclosing actual money made for the simple reason that it’s not all that much, so I’ll make a deal with you: I’ll disclose my monthly earnings once I become a dot com mogul and make $10k/month or I monetize this blog (whichever comes first).

With that said, I’ve got no aspirations of monetizing this blog anytime soon so I probably won’t be disclosing the amount of money I make anytime soon, so if I don’t talk about it then it’s because it’s not worth talking about.

On to the numbers:

My Websites’ Traffic

I currently have five websites I want to monitor traffic statistics for. These are websites I’ve either monetized or have been completed to a point at which I am trying to build a user base.

The websites: this blog, I EAT N00BS 4 BREAKFAST!!!11, Smart Capper, TrackMyHands.com, and Which Team Wins?.

Note: All stats from Google Analytics

This Blog (The Real Ryan J. Parker)

  • Absolute Unique Visitors: 144
  • Visits: 286
  • Pageviews: 1,015
  • Average Pageviews per Visit: 3.55
  • Analysis: I started this blog on February 19th, so the numbers are expectedly low. The pageviews are skewed thanks to the tweaks I’ve made since setting up the blog, so I’m interested to see what the March numbers look like.

I EAT N00BS 4 BREAKFAST!!!11

  • Absolute Unique Visitors: 3,045
  • Visits: 3,561
  • Pageviews: 6,156
  • Average Pageviews per Visit: 1.73
  • Analysis: February was my second full month running this blog and I’m quite pleased with the progress. Most of the traffic this month came from a few unique posts that aren’t covered specifically on any other websites, so Google was happy to send the searchers my way.

Smart Capper

  • Absolute Unique Visitors: 2,076
  • Visits: 3,605
  • Pageviews: 18,084
  • Average Pageviews per Visit: 5.02
  • Analysis: As a sports betting related website, Smart Capper had an expectedly down month in February. Although most traffic decreases during the period between the Super Bowl and the start of Major League Baseball in April, this website has good retention, as 47.60% of the visitors were returning visitors. I don’t expect traffic to waver all that much until April.

TrackMyHands.com

  • Absolute Unique Visitors: 374
  • Visits: 419
  • Pageviews: 1,332
  • Average Pageviews per Visit: 3.18
  • Analysis: TrackMyHands.com is a website I need to devote more time to, but with the recent legislation making it hard for people to play poker online I’ve pushed this website to a very low priority, and the numbers show as such. There are a few odds calculators that a few devout fans use, and I plan on adding to them at some point in the future. When is anyone’s guess.

Which Team Wins?

  • Absolute Unique Visitors: 163
  • Visits: 303
  • Pageviews: 1,858
  • Average Pageviews per Visit: 6.13
  • Analysis: This is the website you could say I’m actively working on. This month’s stats are skewed for two reasons: I ran a SitePoint Logo contest that I linked back to my site for the contestants to see what I’ve already got, and I’ve been developing dynamic content that skews the numbers.

This month I’ve integrated a lot of content into the website, and now I’m looking to start showing up in SERPs. I don’t expect any high rankings just yet, as I’ve just finished integrating some major portions of content. In March I’m going to be implementing more content and tools, so I expect to start attracting more visitors.

Totals for All Websites

  • Absolute Unique Visitors: 5,802
  • Visits: 8,174
  • Pageviews: 28,445
  • Average Pageviews per Visit: 3.48

Summary

This is the first time I’ve tried to do a broad analysis of my websites, so if you see something wrong or a stat I should be tracking please let me know.

I hope you enjoyed the stats above, and hopefully you can compare them to your own website(s). I’m interested in hearing what type of traffic everyone else gets to their websites.

Those are some really good traffic stats, especially for some of the pages that are still young (1-2 months). Congratulations.

Thanks Matt, but I’m obviously looking to get bigger. 8)

I’m working to get a steady increase as time goes on.

So those are your figures for the month of February? You’ve definetly got a good base to grow on. I haven’t started tracking my blog yet but a site I started in January as an experiment and soon abandoned, jumped from 180 uniques to 310 in February. It’s nothing to get excited about but if the traffic grows some more this month I think I might have to go back and actually do something with it.

dan1el, it’ll never grow if you abandon it!

I’ve been running my largest site for almost two years now. It takes time!

Ryan it was never meant as a serious venture. I was just trying a few things out with php and when I was done I forgot about it. Nothing happens overnight but I was surprised that the numbers were going up by themselves.

I see… well in that case that’s awesome. Hopefully you can harness the traffic and grow it into something serious. :D
