Will Google Reinstate My AdSense Account?

A few days ago I noticed about 60 clicks to my AdSense account in a short time span that appeared to be invalid, so I notified Google to make sure they knew that it was some sort of fraud. I’ve heard horror stories of people having some random jerkoff have their account disabled, so I wanted to make sure I didn’t fall into the same trap.

Looks like it didn’t work.

A few hours ago I received the following e-mail from Google:

Hello Ryan Parker,

It has come to our attention that invalid clicks and/or impressions
have been generated on the Google ads on your site(s). We have
therefore disabled your Google AdSense account. Please understand that
this was a necessary step to protect the interests of AdWords
advertisers.

As you may know, a publisher’s site may not have invalid clicks or
impressions on any ad(s), including but not limited to clicks and/or
impressions generated by:

- a publisher on his own web pages
- a publisher encouraging others to click on his ads
- automated clicking or surfing programs, or any other deceptive
software
- a publisher altering any portion of the ad code or changing the
layout, behavior, targeting, or delivery of ads for any reason

I run AdWords campaigns and obviously hate click fraud, which is why it’s unfortunate that Google has disabled my account.

So, what are the odds of Google reinstating my account?

It all depends on how much they value your account and how high profile you are. I am now diversified enough that losing Google AdSense would hamper me but not kill me.

I’m a very small fish in their sea, I’m sure, so they might just blow me off.

Most of my money comes from other sources, but when you’ve got money coming your way in a few days it sucks when this happens.

I think they time in that way on purpose.

Agreed, but the activity I noticed was a few days ago so it doesn’t surprise me too much, even though I did notify them about it.

Notifying them alone does not work very often.

The best way would be to use AdLogger

Does Google allow you to ask for reinstatement to Adsense? You would think they would be able to identify the type of fraud that was occuring if it wasn’t by that particular site, but I guess not.

John, they allow you to “appeal”, but I think that it really means we closed your account because their was fraud and you’re too small for us to waste time on.

Tragic, but I guess that’s the price paid for being small.

Well you can appeal to Google but it’s all depend on them to decide. Just pray they didn’t ban you.

There were cases of people getting their accounts back. However you are probably more likely to win the lottery. I wonder what happens with bigger companies when their users go crazy on the ads.

Some people have gotten their accounts back, but on the other hand, 98% haven’t. I would say try to find the best replacement, and send an appeal. Always expect the worst, and if the worst doesn’t come, all the better.

I got nailed for invalid clicks caused by sources unknown to me a year or so ago. I also tried appealing to get my account back but it didn’t work out. You could always try signing up with a new email and URL.

I guess this also depends on the amount of invalid clicks compared to your total daily clicks. It won’t be logical for you to fake a few clicks when you are making enough anyway.

Yea.. google disabled my adsense account too.
Appealed but it was rejected. Apparently i posed a risk to their advertisers.

I don’t think its really nice as they ban you for life. There is no suspension as such, but any offence will give you the maximum penalty of disablement of the adsense account. Capital Punishment. This is strange for a company which makes money and was from the support of all of us. I would rather prefer that they have a suspension period so as we can learn from our mistakes.

I’m sure google has made mistakes themselves in the past, but their company was not shut down!

The Zero tolerance concept advocated by google is truly special. Whats more, they actually get away with it very well.

Damn if google were the justice department, any small offence would mean the chair. Be it stealing a pack of gum or grabbing an ice cream from a kid.
